Yann Demange

Born in Paris to a French mother and Algerian father, Demange moved to west London when he was two years old. He grew up on French films his mother’s relatives would send over on videocassette — and eventually he started to tape over them with movies he also liked. He attended Britain’s National Film and Television School and then successfully moved into directing commercials and television, including the award-winning British drama “Top Boy.” He was for many years a very in-demand British TV director, “who had a really strong style for television.” He made his mark with “both muscle and poetry, which is a very rare thing.” (Tessa Ross, British producer who was for many years an executive with Channel 4, the British national network; via The New York Times). He made his directorial feature debut in 2014 with the acclaimed indie ‘71, and was hailed by IndieWire as a “critical darling (best director winner at the British Independent Film Awards and BAFTA-nominated).” WHITE BOY RICK is the much-anticipated follow-up to Demange’s cinematic breakout.
